Build Encrypted Comms? The EU Will Pay You to Adapt It.

If your product encrypts communications, the EU has grants to fund its adaptation for critical infrastructure. 100% funded, up to €5M, and they're looking for civilian companies.

You built an encrypted messaging platform. Or a secure voice system. Or a network encryption appliance. Your customers are enterprises and governments. But there's a funded path to adapt your product for critical infrastructure that most comms security founders never explore.

Why secure comms is a top EU priority

Secure communications underpins everything. Energy grid coordination, emergency services, transport control, government operations. The EU needs communication systems that are encrypted end-to-end, sovereign (no non-EU dependencies), and resilient to disruption. Current systems often fail at least one of these requirements.

What the EU funds

  • Quantum-secured networks: QKD integration with existing telecom infrastructure (dedicated €9M EDF call)
  • Tactical communications: secure comms that work in degraded or contested environments
  • Satellite-terrestrial integration: seamless encrypted connectivity across space and ground segments
  • Post-quantum upgrades: migrating existing secure comms to quantum-resistant algorithms

The adaptation path

You don't need to build a new product. The EU wants to fund you to adapt your existing product for critical infrastructure use cases. Add features like offline operation, mesh networking, integration with legacy systems, or quantum-safe key exchange. The core technology is yours. The adaptation is funded.

EDF grants cover 100% of costs. Up to €5M for SME-led projects. No equity. Your IP stays yours. The EU gets a European-made secure communications solution. Both sides win.

Who qualifies

EU-registered SME with a working secure communications product. Any encryption, messaging, voice, or network security technology at TRL 4+. Companies from enterprise IT, telecom, and cybersecurity backgrounds have all successfully entered EU-funded comms security projects.
